She is very smart , I was reading your site and I saw that she was typing with me and Tom the same month in February 2005. I am divorced ,I am Brazilian , I have been living in the USA since 2000 , 49 years old. I had a profile in one site for a few months but I was living the site when Alena contact me. She requested the money in the last e-mail, but I didn’t answered. I haven’t written to site, because I didn’t have an ideia about the scammer, because before I have chatting with a lot of Americans and from the others country, but never they asked me about money how is happening with Russian women. I am a 48 year old Caucasian American Man and I was first contacted by Anastasiya through Yahoo Personals. Something told me that it sounded a little funny that since she had no personal profile on Yahoo and no photo that maybe I should start with some extra security under by belt to keep myself protected from this quite possibly a scam artist. She stated she looked over my profile and liked what she saw and decided to write at the direction of her friend that had found happiness from the Internet. It may have took about 8 to 9 message's to me before she started asking me for money for first a Visa and then her transportation expense. Some of the letters she wrote appeared to be canned letters from miscellaneous different Russian ladies, but it all added up to the same at the end and that was that she only wanted money! After reading the scam books out there ("Anti Scam Guide") and finding what to look for, I knew we have a scammer on our hands. She used the following for an email address gafnastya@yandex.ru but of course by now, she could have easily changed it. She stated her full name and address was: Gafarova Anastasiya, Gagarina str.7, flat 19, Cheboksary, 428000, Russia. She also told me to wire the funds to her using a Money-Gram to the following bank information of: Svyaz-bank, 44 Yaroslavskaya str., Cheboksary, Russia. Here is the tree of letters she has written to me: Here is the first, and only, message I received from her on Yahoo Personals. There was no screen name. She was identified only as a Personals Member.

Hi dear Dana!!! Today I again have went in Internet cafe and received your letter. It is fine to receive it from you, your letters give me so much energy and joy for all day. I like to read any information about you and your life. I think it is a little bit early to think about meeting because we know each other still bad. Dana, possible I should tell you more about my work. I'll try to do it in this letter. I already said you: I am postman. I work in post office of our city. I think they approach us! ~ Dana, how often do you have a rest? In summer I often go to swim on the lakes and river Volga, which is one of the largest rivers in Russia. Did you hear about it? Now I'll try to explain my position! Dana, there is many objective reasons which say me that you don't go in my country this time! I will say about this reasons now: 1. You see, 350 children died from dirty hands of the terror in Beslan, before this event we had a terrack in Moscow. There were died 120 people. So it is very dangerous situation in my country now! And our government and military do not check situation in country. It is full disorder in my country. So I don't want to subject to risk you and me. 2. She said she could not figure out how to un-hide her profile so this is all I ever received from her on talkmatch.com. I was suspicious from the start and decided to play the game by pretending to be someone I was not. By about the tenth message this person was proclaiming love for me and asked for 400 USD to obtain a visa to “come to me”. Supposedly her “uncle” knew an attorney in Moscow who was tight in with the U.S. Embassy and could obtain a visa for her. Fortunately for me I never let on to this person that I knew they were running a scam! It was great entertainment while it lasted as I told “her” I was rich. I sent pictures of a really nice house (not mine) and some model pictures I found on the web. Everyone wants to be someone they are not and it was fun while it lasted. When I found this Russian women black-list website I did notice that “her” pictures sent were already on this site as two other women. In my final e-mail I stated that I had sent money to the address given and that “she” should write to me and tell me when I should expect “her to come to me”. Of course I never heard another word, but I never sent any money and did not expect to hear from “her” again. Thanks, Michael in Asheville, N.C.

You can see that in two letters a portion of it was repeated, and when I asked her about it, she said she was testing me to see if I was not a player...how ironic is that? These letters were all sent from 5/8/05  5/18/05. There was not mention of money other than she did not make much...but at least I saw the signs and did the research first. I did offer to go to Russia, but she never talked about it. Having been the target of a scam last summer, I thought the fact that she did not answer many of my questions was suspicious, so I found your site, and have seen numerous accounts and many of the same pictures as she sent to me.
