I am a single American, 48 years old, self employed. Irina first contacted me through match.com international. Then a few days later her profile no longer showed there. Then we started to email one another. She requested $560.00 for documents to leave Russia. Then she requested $1378.54 for a one way ticket to America to be with me. This is a total of $1938.54. She has many studio pictures that also made her suspicious to me. Also she sent a picture of her and two ladies, claiming one was her mother and one was a neighbor, a good cover up because you say they never show relatives. Also she does not have a phone number so I could call her, and of course no personnel computer. Her email address is gamazh@mail.ru She requested money five times, and spelled her name with one letter off in an email.

It all started when I received an e-mail from Kamila that she has seen my details one of the dating site and is interested to start a relationship. She said she has Father( a truck driver) and mother and a grand mother. She lives in city to work and her parents live in country side. She has BS degree and know english and wants to settle down with a good personnal. She had few bad experineces in life and she was cheated in a love affair and now she hate towards Russian men.We used to correspond regulerly and this reation became emotional and romatic. I completely trusted this person.She used to send many pictures.Finally we decided to meet each other. She said she has no money to take passport,visa and ticket. I promised I will help her. She identified a travel agency in her place(now I think it is a bogus agency) and asked me to sent $400 towards passport,ticket to moscow and visa charges by western Union. I said I cannot send but I can transfer the money through my bank. Finally I transferd $500 to here travel agency -Here is the details:

After 3 days she informed me that the agency has received the money and she will get her passport and other documents within 2-3 weeks. After one week she said in order to get visa she needs to take the ticket. She needs to show the ticket to the US consulate else she will be denied a visa. The ticket charge from Moscow to BWI is $ 2335. Again I sent to the agency via above means. She wanted to take her mom along with her to Moscow and asked me to send $500 for expenses and for her mother's air ticket. Completely believing her I sent $ 499.99 via Western Union. She came back to be after 4 days she recived Visa and other documents and ready to meet me at BWI. After 2 weeks she send me a travel plan for Augut 9th as arrival date and I said she need to be here by August 10th due to some personnel reasons. She said she will go to agency and collect the ticket next day. She came back to me saying the agency's doors are locked and she is worried. The same thing she repeated for days. Now she is frustrated and feel like dying. I was really annoyed and thought she was playing trick bur her e-mails where a bit of sober type and I felt bad. I thought of helping her again and asked her to find out from Delta or Aeroflot the ticket details.She send me the following details and asked me to send money via western union. She also told me that she lost here job since she was so sad due to the agency and losing a chance to meet me and spend some time with me, she did not go to job for a week. I felt bad and did not want hurt her further so I sent $300 via western Union.

Whether I called in embassy and to ask is valid my certificate, me have told what yes but if I shall not come 8th of August with the tickets and passport to receive by the visa, me will not permit to visit America during 5 years. She checked the system and told me this person receives money from several men and she told me it is a scam. I was really frustrating and send her e-mail asking why she is getting money from several men. Here is her reply

I knew it was a scam when she was madly in love with me after 4 emails (in about 3 hours), had seen her parents who she hadn't seen for years and made them fall in love with me, too, and needed $400 for not quite legal travel documents. "She's" signed a contract with a travel agency, and I have to send money to her, so she can get tickets and everything from them. If she breaks the contract, she is liable for $25000 penalty. Pretty good, huh? She lives in Kazan . I used to just delete them, but I answered a few out of curiosity. I was contacted by this scammer twice. Of course the woman had a different name and lived in a different place each time, and the second set of photo's are of a much younger and prettier woman, but the letters are the same. I am sorry that I threw away the first series of letters, I did not know that this blacklist existed at the time. I never sent any money. It was too obvious to me that these girls aren't real.

Probably you will be very much afflicted when you find out that I live not in your country. I live in the city of Nizhniy Novgorod. Nizhniy Novgorod is located in 350 kilometers from the city of Moscow, Russia. Nizhniy Novgorod the big and known city. I began to get education in the secondary comprehensive school. After I finished it I entered the medical college. I finished it with excellent results and entered Medical University. At present I work in a small Dental clinic. I work as a dentist. We have a little collective, but very friendly. Dave, I shall have an opportunity to send you letters only from Monday till Friday, because I haven't got a computer at home. I use a computer at my work. On work I can use a computer almost freely. So it is more convenient for me to write you from my work. Though it too depends not from me. With a computer works another employee. I have not bad relations with her, but she can give me a computer only when she has a free time. For this reason I hope that you understand me. My new friend, answer my questions, if you can:

3. What kind of music do you like?
4. Have you ever had a friend from the other country? (the friend on correspondence).

Nastya (Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia)
I was emailed from "Nastya" on American Singles, allegedly from Nizhniy Novgorod. Her profile on
American Singles was removed within days, and initially said she was from San Diego. Then, in her
letters, she said that was incorrect, and she was in Seattle. Early on, it seemed it was plausible that she was here on some sort of allowable visa, but the more we emailed back and forth, the more dubious it became. I received several long, personal letters that addressed some of what I wrote in mine. She(?) even went as far as giving me a Seattle phone number --- that somehow, at different times, either never got answered or was disconnected. She was "staying" with American friends for 2 months caring for their young child (huh? ...the only au paire visas
allowed currently are for British subjects), and would have a month to do here whatever she pleased prior to returning to Russia. The photos supplied were obviously taken in the States, which added some authenticity to the story, along with her mentioning some Seattle stores and areas.
However, direct questions and requests went unanswered:
- about the kind of visa she had
- her address
- about the area of Seattle she was in
- that she call me using a calling card from Walgreens (excuses included her friends didn't pay their phone bill, etc.)
I made phone calls at different times to the 2 numbers she supplied, and one night, it rang through to Russia!
"Her" email address is nastya@manrian.com. Manrian.com has a dubious registry history... registered to someone allegedly in the USA, but via a Russian registry agency:

I never got her last name... only "Nastya." Or was it really Mats? At that point, I knew, but kept in contact just to see where this would lead. Finally, the old airline ticket scam became apparent today with the following letters. The photos sent to me are attached. So... another for your Wall of Shame. Jonathan
Letters:
"Hello dear, Hope you are fine. Yesterday I received very sad news from my parents. My grand mother passed away last night. I am in shock right now, I thought that she will recover soon. When I was talking with my mother two days ago, she told that grandma was feeling better. I hope you understand how it is difficult for me now. I have decided to fly back to Russia and to be on funeral. I should go to Russia, because I loved my grandmother so much. She was living with us in our home for a long time and we had nice relations. Grandma was careful and kind, she was a woman with big heart. Last time she was ill I was worried about her much. Now she died and my duty is to carry out her in last way. I had a talk with Sarah and we came to the decision that now she gives me vacations and in three weeks I will work in that family again. I really think a lot about us and our relations. And I tried to write that letter to understand: how are you serious about our relations and me. Will you write and call me in Russia? Will you wait for me? Will you still want to meet me? Sarah gave me some money, I have bought a ticket, I hope that money will help me in charges and the help on funeral. I want also help my parents. The rest of money Sarah will pay me when I will finish my job in her family. I am planning to stay in Russia for one week. And I need to make a report on the work. I will think about my future, I will think about us being together. I want you to write me about it. I want to come back in aweek and meet you. I want to fly to your place. I want you to think about it serious and write me about it. What do you feel about me. What do you think about it. My departure at 8:15 am. It is approximately in 1,5 hour. And I think that you receive that letter when I will be in the plane. I will check my mail tomorrow. I want to believe that you write me. I hope you understand me. And I want you support me in such difficult time for me. I feel that I miss a man who can just simply be near me. Who can embrace me and press to itself. Understand me and talk to me. I have to finish that letter now. I have not much time. But I want to tell you a lot and hear from you a lot. Sorry, that I wrote you such a sad letter. This is hard time for me and my family. But I am thinking of you and will wait for your letter." No pleas for money yet (but they're obviously coming, but my city is half a country away from Seattle, so why would an "employer" pay for a ticke here?). And how would someone come back so easily, unless they had a multi-entry visa --- that is impossible for someone on a tourist or education visa. Plus, who would give someone money for a ticket?... the visitor would need a return ticket to enter the country initially, so that could have been used.
