After being warned by my sister I started to do some research and found your website. My eyes were opened by all the similarities as to the way I was being scammed. I have a profile on FriendFinder.com, where a person who called herself Maria Belyaeva read about me & sent me her address (maria_2001@hotbox.ru). I informed her I was only interested in e-mailing, but over the course of about 2 weeks she talked about having kids. I then told her that I couldn't have any more kids & couldn't afford them if I could, but it seemed as though she didn't even read my letters. She repeatedly asked me to ask her anything, then never answered them. After the last letter where she told me she checked the price of a visa ($350), she added the fact she was a virgin! I then wrote her that I was reporting her to FriendFinder & never even got a reply. Your site helped me confirm what I suspected from the beginning. I hope this information can help someone else too.

Hi, I am from Colorado in America. And I too have been recently scammed by a woman from Russia. Her name is Natalia Bodyagina, she claims to be from Ulan-Ude, capital of Siberia. Anyway, we had been writing back and forth for about 2 monthes now. Inthe last couple of weeks she had mentioned that she was ready to come over to America and meet me. I, playing the silly fool agreed upon it, and sent her $1200 dollars via Western Union. Did not hear from her for 3 days and then she writes back stating that she is in Moscow and needs another $570 for insurance to come to America. So, once again I send her $600 dollars for that, then the next day, which was March 23, 2001 she writes to me saying that she is to leave from Moscow on plane on March 30,2001. The letter on March 23 was the last I received, I did not even know which airport in my area she was landing at or flight number or time of arrival. Now a couple of days later, I just happen to look-up this black list area. And everything that she was telling me sounds so familiar with what everyone else is writing. The writing about her mum being ill. Not having a phone at their house. Being able to use the computer at work to email me Monday thru Friday. Having an aunt who worked at the airport in Moscow, to get a discount on tickets. Writing about sexual dreams that she had with me, and then waking up and crying because I am not there beside her. It is all there, plus more. I regret not finding this website earlier. It is not the fact that losing the money hurt me, it is just being deceived. I guess I am too trusting of a guy. After about a week, the subject of money for a visa and a plane ticket came up. If I would have had the money right there and then, I probably would have sent it. Luckily I'm a poor bastard. Anyway, I really wanted to send her money to bring her to America, but there was no way I could do it with a clear conscience without knowing that this girl was being 100% honest. Then I found your website. I found two letters on your blacklist that were almost identical to letters written by Maria Perepelkina or Maria Belyaeva. However, these pictures are of a different girl who calls herself Tatyana Ermakova. The region is the same as Maria (Tyumen). I found all this out about ten days after my first encounter with her. I'm still kinda' bummed out about it. The girl in this picture is strikingly beautiful to me. At least I didn't lose any money, but I would have if I hadn't found your site. Thank you.

I also contacted the American FBI about this, but I doubt they will do anything about it. They haven't written or contacted me since. I guess this is the next best thing. If you ever find that the REAL person in these pictures is looking for an American husband, I sure would like to know about it.

Let me first say that this website is a great resource for anyone looking for a relationship with Russian women. Keep up the Great work! Rather than go into details of my experience ( The story is so similar to others here I don't want to waste space) I'll give the important facts about the scam. The girl ( or whoever) found me out on Match.com. I was suspicious when I got my first Email. Reason being, I had made it very clear in my profile that I was looking to meet Thai women. But because of the odd coincidence that I follow the news from Russia, spoke some Russian, and had always liked the " look" of Russian women, I bit. From here on out my story is very similar to ones already posted. We correspond for a week. For a brief moment it sounded like it maybe real, mainly because she actually called and spoke with me. By the end of the week though, the young lady ( or whoever) had claimed to have fallen completely in love with me and was asking for money for a visa. In fact the last letter I received was an exact copy of the letter sent to " Chis" from Maria BELYAEVA. NOTHING different except my name, and her own, placed in the appropriate spots. Before that though I became more than a little suspicious when she hinted at the price for a visa with this-

Today for the sake of interest went in embassy and would learn(find out) concerning the visa what to arrive to you. Cost of the visa three hundred fifty dollars. I very much was surprised. It for me the large money. And I can not them find. To me became sad. I understand that our attitudes (relations) are under construction on trust. But we should trust each other, without it we simply can not exist. 

I knew that more than likely I was being scammed. At this point I went to a search engine and put in "Russian online scams" and found this great site. I played along for a few more emails until she actually asked for money ( after not answering ONE of the many questions I asked her). I let her know I was on to the scam and haven't heard from her since. Anyway I wanted to pass along the fact that they are now working on Match.com so keep an eye out.
