Thanks for your web site! Below are letters, pictures, and details of an
experiment with Ekaterina from Kemerovo using the email address katyusha002@pochtamt.ru.
I am a 49 year old white American male. This woman sent me an email after I
posted an ad at a personal dating site. Curiosity about her home town landed
me at this black list and someone's description of a "bunk bed" picture (for a
different name) which sounded like the one sent to me. I then sent to her from
a second email address using a different name, thanking her for contacting me
and asking if she would please send more. (I.e., I am the one who initiated
contact from the second address, pretending that she had contacted me.) I
used a totally different writing style and completely different subjects for the
two contacts. The second email address was one letter behind the first.
From the first email address, my first letter expressed concern about scams
and asked for evidence that she was "real". (I hadn't yet seen your web site,
so it was a sincere letter based on a hunch.) Her second letter had nothing to
do with my concerns, so I replied with subtle insults (nothing nasty!) that
should be recognized by an English-speaking human. ("Thanks for the second
picture. I see that you are really packing on the groceries my sweet little
dumpling! As I write this, my ribs hurt so bad that I have tears streaming down
my face!") Her third letter completely ignored anything said in my prior two
letters. My third letter returned similar mild insults and didn't hear from her
again.
From the second email address, I wrote one letter behind what was received
at the first address. Both email addresses received letters with the same time
stamp, except one form letter behind to the second address. Being able to
anticipate the next letter, I wrote letters from the second address that mirrored
what I was about to receive - even someone who was translating would see
that I was mimicing (and mocking) the letter that she was about to send.
Additionally, I signed with a different name each time, and each of these
names was different from the one that is in the address stamp in the header.
The third letter was finally personalized by including the name that is in the
email header -- which I had never signed on any of the letters -- a name that is
more often than not taken to be a female name.
In both cases, I received three identical letters and photos. The first letter
includes the "stuffed animal" photo, the second letter includes the "zoo
monkey" photo, the third letter includes no photo. Apparently, this organization actually reads replies to the third letter -- I never received a
fourth letter to either email. However, I was spammed for smut to the second
email address -- a yahoo account which has only been used a few times since
it was created a year ago.
The three letters and two pictures sent to me are below. The original names of
the image files were 1.jpg and 2.jpg. Please note that I would never be so
mean as to mock someone in the manner that I have described unless I was
certain that a scam was in the making. But as long as I was certain of the game
plan, it sure was an enjoyable intellectual sport!

many years back in the russian-Afghani war. It was in 1985, when to me there

I am a single father of 48 years and very lonely, I received this letter from
Elena Berezina offering me love and devotion. I took it hook line and sinker,
guys if it sounds too good to be true it is!!! A SCAM. She first told me about
how she lived with her mother and she needed 320 of the visa, then I said I
could not do this. Then questions about trust had made me feel guilty.
Well, I thought she was putting herself out of Russia I could help this young and
beautiful woman of 29 years who would make this old mans world spin again.
Well soon it became $900 she had a uncle that could get a discount on the
ticket and visa. So next thing I knew one lonely day I sent the $900 western
union, Don't EVER Do this, It is CASH. Soon after I got a letter stating that
the embassy would not issue a visa with the one way ticket and she needed to
purchase a return ticket. Asked me for another 600. Soon after I got an email
from this other lady I had emailed and told her I was sending for this Elena
Berezina, and she would be marring me. The other lady warned me about this
and the photo of a girl like a fashion model and so forth. The profile fit like a
glove. I call western union and stop the other 600. She did get the 900. and I
could not stop it. Mean while I get another email from Elena Berezina, and she
tells me her mother died and her uncle cancelled the ticket and she was not
coming to the USA. SCAM. Since I got with Western Union and found out
the addresses given to me were not even the same. The Proof of pick up I got
from Western Union was in Yoshkar-Ola, RU. She told me she was from Novosibirsk.
I also found out this person could even be a man using a studio photo and writing to get money from
American men.

Elena Vasina contacted me first on January 22, 2002, in response to my ad on
Absolute Agency. A scammer is obviously hiding behind this pretty girl. She
claim to be 29 and does not hesitate to use her mother to make her case more
convincing. After a couple of letters she is in love and wants to come to
America. She then decides to come to visit me. I tell her that this does not
make any sense, as I have the money for the trip and she does not. She then
send me the last letter with the request for money for her tourist visa ($320,
ie. $220 for the visa and $100 for the trip to Moscow to get the visa.) and the
very suggestive pictures of herself lying on a sofa and "ready for action". This
scammer is not very sophisticated. It just pastes a few lines of response with
precooked stories about her and how she feels. The precooked part of the
message was obviously written by a different person in some of the letters.

Here is her first letter. She misspelled my name many times, even if I would sign
it correctly on each letter I sent to her. I had to tell her explicitly
in one of my letters. We exchanged 8 letters total. The last one was sent on February
15. I never sent any money. I have not heard from her since.

Beware of Elena Fefelova - she is a scam artist. She knows all the right things
to put in writing to attract a mate. She states she is a bookkeeper in the city of
Surgut (Siberia) Russia. She starts immediately with letting the victim know
that she has had a lot of bad luck in her life. A recent breakup with her
extremely abusive, and alcoholic boyfriend. Her father allegedly killed by
rebels in Chezneya, and her mother died of cancer. She will even provide
photos of them which appear to be made within the past 3 years. She has
even made a poor quality copy of an American Visa in which her photo was
pasted into the book. This has been reported to http://www.ifccfbi.gov/ for
follow up. She will let you know she is madly in love with you, and then say
she wants to visit you. She insists on paying her own way, and then "buys" her
visa from a local agency at an inflated price. Within 2 weeks, she will send you
an electronic copy of the visa, then request money for a plane ticket, which is
always less than what you have already told her it would be. She will claim to
have pawned some sentimental jewelry left by her deceased mother and ask
you to wire her money via Western Union. After the money is wired, forget
any correspondence with this lady. Her last known e-mail address is
sunrose_75@yahoo.com. Forget assistance from Western Union. I suggest if
you get scammed, stop payment on your check, or credit card, and take your
chances in court. Western Union in Russia should be able to find the person
who received the money, and they can settle it in their country. You may not
be able to use Western Union's services again, but that isn't necessarily a bad
thing.

I am a 31 year old male working in the SE in a technical field.
This scammer got me for 900 dollars. A small price to pay for my blatant
suppression of common sense. I look back now and I see what mistakes I
made. I noticed the anti-scam guide had all the hard lessons I learned on my
own and quite a few I had yet to see. I have run across three scammers
and only one got away with any money here she is Inna Dyomia.
She can also be found with a different name but the same pictures
on Page 11 of the May 29th update.under the name Elena
Dmitrova. I started correspondance on May the 6th 2001 and she hit me up for money June 4th
of 2001 Her claim was that it would cost her 1350 US$ to travel to the
Atlanta airport but she had 400 dollars already saved. Once money was sent
she quit writing.
The e-mail address she was using (same as on page 11) was Inna23@freemail.ru
One of the reasons I was suckered is she would send at least a page a day and would answer all sorts of questions I had about her, the city she lived in
Stavropol.
I hope this stops someone from making the same mistake as I did.

the internet with a lady who claims her name is Irina Smirnova, we have been
talking since two weeks before Christmas of last year. She told me she was a
cook, and her mum, (marina) and dad (andrey) lived with her, she sent many
pictures, all with hardly any clothes on. Later in January she said she wanted
to come here. She told me her aunt worked at an airport and could get
her ticket cheep. She also told me that visa, and passport was 250.00 dollars so
I sent money through Western Union,to a bank

then later she asked for 750.00 dollars for plane ticket, to come
here, then on the the 26 of Jan she said she could not come because she needed money for insurance to get on the plane. so
I sent 300.00 Dollars. But when she wrote me last she told me my mum is now her
mum and to meet her at the airport, she didn't show up. I AM IN CONTACT with the
Russian Embassy and the US senators about this matter. Please don't let anyone else get hurt by this
woman. When I told her I was black, she didn't reply to my letter, I also asked how after the
third letter she knew my name - I don't remember writing that to her.
I hope she is brought to justice.

I would like to send out a warning to all you guys, especially to those of you
who are with the Anastasia Agency, as this scammer claimed to have got hold
of my details from the Anastasia magazine. My warning is about this particular scammer's activities. The woman's name (or the name she gave) was Julia Kolossovskaya. The scam she tried to pull on me was straight out of the Cyberguide. I received her first letter around October of last year. She contacted me by letter saying that she had
seen my advertisement in the Anastasia Catalog. The pattern was very close to Cyberguide. There was one difference with this scammer however; she refused to use the internet at all, in spite of my frequently urging her to do so. She claimed the reason was that she did not get home from work until after 8pm so it was not safe to go out to use the internet cafe. Notice that in her 4th letter however she claims to be available at home any time after 6pm! She preferred phone calls and (if pushed) letters. She never gave her home address, but only a P.O. BOX, although she did give her phone number. In any event over the next couple of months she encouraged me to phone her, although when I did her line was often busy or she was not in. She very much disliked writing letters, and would only write to me at my insistence. Although she did not declare her "undying love" or anything like that though she called me "Dearest Michael" on her second letter and ended her third letter "with sweet kisses". I followed the advice given on this website and corresponded with a number of other Russian women, so I sensed this show of affection was way too fast in our relationship. For me these were early warning signs that something might be wrong, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt unless any other warning signs appeared. When I spoke to her over the phone her comprehension of English appeared to be very good.
By January she seemed to be getting anxious to meet. I agreed and stated that
I planned to be visiting Russia Summer of this year. She said it was too long to
wait but agreed to write to me. I phoned her recently to wish her a happy
birthday and happy women's day. It was then she attempted to pull the scam.
She said she would wait no longer to see me and did not want to write me any
more letters (she only wrote 4). She did not want to wait till the Summer and
she knew someone who was a travel agent and that she could get tourist visa
to come to Canada in about 2 to 3 weeks. I told her that was virtually
impossible for her to get tourist visa to visit Canada, and that the same
restrictions applied to the USA and Australia. I told her that my Agency had
strongly advised all of us men that her suggestion was impossible. She again
responded that she could not wait until Summer of this year to see me (although this has not been a problem with any of my other correspondents),
even after I stated that I could not stop her corresponding with other men if
she wanted to, and that she would lose nothing by meeting with me in Summer. She persisted with this attempted scam even after I warned her that
her suggestion seemed to fit that of known scams on the internet to get men
from the West to pay for non-existent visitors visas for Russian and East
European women, and that I was becoming very concerned. She responded with the classic " I have known you for some time" "you should be able to trust
me" stuff that the Cyberguide mentions and ended by stating she no longer
wished to continue our relationship.

Her actual attempt to scam me was made over the phone after I received her
4th letter. This could indicate a new level of sophistication in the "scam game".
Letters leave a trail that can be used for prosecution and so do emails. This
scammer's phone based method would appear to leave little evidence for a
Prosecutor to follow up. With hindsight her refusal to use the internet, her
reluctance to write letters, and her using a PO.Box instead of a home address
should have warned me something was very wrong. Many thanks to the
Cyberguide. Buying it has turned out to be one of the smartest investments I
have made. I would also like to thank this web site and all of you guys who
have contributed to it. Thanks to you all I was ready for the "visitors visa"
scam attempt. My feelings are hurt - no one likes to be made a fool of - but at
least she failed to rip me off and I have an opportunity to warn others of this
woman's corrupt activities.
Good luck to all who are searching for a good honest Russian wife. Heaven
knows we need it.

I am a 46 year old computer programmer, divorced. I did not initiate this
contact, began on Jan 22, 2002, and I am not a fool, I immediately started
looking into this analytically. It didn't take long. From my readings of
letters and comparison of photographs, on your site, I have determined that
it is the person or persons using the subject names above that are responsible for the
scam currently being run on me. I have not yet received any money request
and have had no letter for 5 days? Maybe they are on to me. I found out in
plenty of time thanks to your site!

PS: I have gathered a large amount of data on the systems this group uses
to access the internet. I believe I could get their service disconnected
but would have better chances if I had more that just my data. I am interested in
contacting directly any reporter to your site that would be willing to share the
email headers with me. I will compile the necessary tracings and a report of
usage. This could slow down this problem for a time. I am also interested in
providing assistance in determining questionable contacts. If you have requests
that involve suspected scammers I am willing to volunteer a reasonable
amount of time to finding the facts in individual cases and perhaps establishing
a blacklist of email systems that these persons use.
