To send your own story, please click here Svetlana Lubimova Nishni Novgorod Russia I was already seeing red flags and smelled a scam and was getting suspicious then I ran across your site. I paid your fee so I could validate my suspicions and sure enough, your statements did do it!! Right out of the gate I noticed she would not answer my questions, she would write back and talk the talk as if I had never asked them. Then the scam patterns began Here are excerpts of the red flags I received: Letters: "Today on work there was a unpleasant incident! My chief has told that I give too much time to extraneous things! He has told that I have now enough time to read your letters! YOU ARE DISMISSED - he has told! He has fined me almost on all my salary! Russian laws!!! - they do not care about workers! It is very hard for me now. It is so stress for me. I have nobody to share my problems! Sorry Charles, I`am afraid that I can`t pay for Internet - cafe and lost my unique hope - YOU! Charles!!!If you can do it - please help me! Love you, Sweetlana." ELENA....MY NAME IS MICHAEL After confronting her with this issue, I recieved this: "My dear Mike today when I looked your letter, I was in very big shock, it is not less than you. I love you, you, you, and only you, you, you, I correspond with you, with you, with you, and only with you. My heart is injured. I do not have tears more to cry. All my dreams, in which only you fall. When I have read your letter, I at once have not understood, about what you write, I cannot describe the feeling at all, that was during that moment with my heart." After the above mentioned hint of money, she became more direct with the following: "Today I have received your letter and have gone to visa agency how many will find out to cost the ticket. There to me have told, that approximately the ticket will cost 2050 $, I know that it is very big money. I think I can take near 900$ from my girlfriend. I would like to cry from that I cannot find money." AND THIS: "I need about 600 dollars more for over all my business there. My love, today I was also in agency of the visa! I wanted to find out whether probably to buy the ticket in the USA, to send it here, to arrive. They have answered, that it will create some difficulties, on reception of the visa as agency of the visa should check up legality of the ticket and register it in the American embassy, and it is easier with tickets the company Aeroflot bought with my passport." AND HERE IS WHERE SHE FLAT OUT ASKED: "But my parents cannot help me money! Their salary is too small for this purpose! I went to visa agency and have found that I can prolong the visa during stay with you! I have about 600 dollars, but ticket cost 2000$. I have already given 100 dollars for registration of the visa and I shall be compelled to give 100 more later! You can help me of 500 dollars for the beginning official registration of papers?" Well, being the love stricken fool as you might expect, I wired her $600 via Western Union. BUT......Having had that uneasy feeling still in the back of my head, I put a safe guard in wire. I checked off the security question feature where she would have to answer the question on the wire transfer. I emailed her and told her that for international email security reasons I could not send her the password and that she would have to furnish me with a telephone number of where she could be reached so I could call her and talk to her in person sort of. I have not heard from her since. It has been 8 days. Having had that safe guard, I went to the Western Union office and recovered my $600. It is now and will remain safely in my wallet. All I lost was the initial $50 wire transfer fee. Here, in my opinion were the fatal mistakes. First, was the the name error. Secondly, she mentions that she does not have money to pay for the internet but yet later she mentions she has $600. I just wanted to pass my thanks to you and hopefully you will pass on to your readers about using the password technique in it's entirety. By the way, her name is Svetlana Lubimova from Nishni Novgorod and she found me through Imatchup.com. She is there too as Sweetlane2000 (News Flash....I just went to the site to validate what I just told you and she is NOW Nikita1!!!!!!) Sincerely, Michael |
