I would like to thank you for this site. You have saved me from becoming a victim of an attemtpted scam. Two Russian women answered my ad placed on one and only web site. I had not even considered a Russian for a date. After about 3 weeks of daily correspondence they both were sure I was the man for them and suggested to come to see me in person. They asked for money for the visa. In looking for information on visas, I came across your site. Once I read your page on scams I realized my situation had all "symptoms" and that I was about to become a victim. You have saved me a few hundred bucks. At the same time, after reading your site, I am now considering what I would never have done before - dating a real Russian woman. Thanks again.

Describe what happened as best you can: In the beginning (see letter 1) she said that she had seen my ad on the web. I remember at that time that I posted my first ad on the matchmaker website and it was in the inbox of my account at matchmaker website that I received her first letter. She said that she has a higher education and because she did not find a job she is working as a waitress in a local bar called Red Tub (see letter 4). After exchanging some letters she asks money for the visa( see letter 10 ). I told her I can send you an invitation so you can ask for the visa and after you'll send me a copy of the visa I'll pay a ticket to come to me. But she explains me that her parents did not want to give her the money for the visa However they will give her the money for the thicket once she got the visa(see letter 11). So I trust her and I send her the money she asks for. One day after she said that she can not receive the money due to a mistake of her last name which is Fedyaeva instead of Fedaeva (see letter 12). So I contact the western union to correct the last name of the receiver. So it was done by phone. One day after she said she received the money(see letter 13). Days after she said she got the visa (see letter 18) and that she needs more money concerning the thicket (see letter 19 ) even if she said before that she will buy the thicket herself(see letter 11). However I told her that I will not send her the money anymore unless she send me a copy of her visa and a copy of her higher education and the first pages of her passport. Since that she said e-mails and she find many reasons to say that she will send them soon. But once I said that if I did not receive the paper I'm asking for I will consider her like a scammer and I'm going to complain for that and to put her name and photos as a scammer in many websites and I send her the link of this website: '' http://www.womenrussia.com/antiscam8.htm''. Just after that she answers and she said that she will send me a copy of the visa and the money back (see letter 26). However the letter 26 was the last e-mail I receive from her and I receive nothing at all. P.s. Well, I've got to know what I need to come to you.  I need to do all the paper work to get a visa and then to buy tickets to come to you. As for visa, there is a Fiancee visa but it is not the best variant for us as we haven't met yet and we don't have the documents and pictures to improve our meeting. They will not allow me to go there as a guest but it is possible to get a Labour or visa for Work there. I can get this kind of visa very easy and quickly now. But the only roblem now is that I don't have money for it ( I need $186 for visa ). It is very expensive for me and I can't find this money now. So I ask you to send it to me by Western Union as it is the most safe way to send money. I just wanted to send an update to this person posing as Tatyana. I was approached by Tatyana Lentovskaya through Match.com. Throughout our correspondance, she had been ignoring several critical questions which raised my suspicions. As I decided to check this out before anything went further, I started searching for scams and I found a couple of postings on this person. I also discovered the emails she sent me were identical to those others had posted. She sends one or two photos per email. I've included some of her pictures and letters. Fortunately I found this site and saw these postings before anything happened. The email account she used with me was tat12345lent@yandex.ru

Hi! I have seen this scam reported on a few sites, but interestingly enough none of the pictures associated with the name are of this woman. I do not know who she is, but these are probably about the 10th-12th photos of hers that she has sent, always the same women, but never have I seen it associated with this name on any of the scam sites. I suspect this is some other woman who is using her own pictures, but with the canned 'scam' email messages attached. Unlike some people, I *have* had some luck in getting her to answer specific questions (she claims to be a grade school teacher who's father was killed by a bear when she was a little girl), but only some - others she makes no attempt at all to comment on. Anyway, I thought you might like to add these pictures to the section of scam list that deals with her specifically. Thanks! Scott

Tracking Emails and IP Addresses

Hello, After searching thorough your blacklist pages I realized that I have a found a new twist to the theme. Many of the previous posts have reoccurring pictures and methods of deceit. The main similarity between my letters and the rest is the general flavor of the conversation. There are also some very important technical tidbits, that I'll point out at the end of my post that I think will make all the difference. I received a response to a personal ad that was posted on www.oneandonly.com. The letter was written in fairly clear English and appeared legitimate (to me at least). My ad was extremely basic and had no picture. This was the first response to the ad in the 4 months since I posted it. The letter read as follows:

Letter 1: Initial Unsolicited Introduction Letter from "Olga"

I have no children. I don't smoke or drink. My height is 176, my weight is 65 kg. I'm pretty purposeful, sociable. I've got many friends. I would describe myself as a cheerful, loving, kind lady. The perfect romantic evening to me is an evening spent with my beloved person somewhere at a nice restaurant in the light of candles and in romantic music. I take care of myself. I go to the swimming pool regularly to keep myself in a good shape. I stick to the point that relations between a husband and a wife should be open and sincere. I do want to create a solid family, to love my husband, live in the atmosphere of respect and understanding. Write please to me on the new address, as with an old box at me problems (her old address was girlfromrus1@mailru.com). If you want write me you may write me on my email: olgatok210@pochtamt.ru. Since I had never actively wanted to pursue a relationship with someone overseas, I responded with a 3-sentence letter that essentially asked why she wrote to someone so far away. And I also asked whether she meant to write to someone in the USA.In the interest of time and keeping everyone from getting bored, I will post only the sections of the remaining letters that I think are of interest. This should help others identify this new set of letters.

Letter 2: Introduction to Her Husbands Death. Also notice how her English skills just went out the window. Hello!!! I very much waited for your answer. I hope, that in the future we shall write each other. It is very interesting to write to the person which is on the other continent <snip> My cousin has advised me it. Her the former schoolmate has got acquainted thus and now she is happy. She is married to the remarkable American citizen and they bring up the daughter. I have decided to write to you and I do not regret about it. I very much worry, but I shall write sincerely to you and to answer your questions. I live in Russia, in city of Krasnoyarsk. Krasnoyarsk - average city with a population about 850000 persons. A history of our city very big and interesting <snip> As you already know, me call Olga. I was born and have grown in this city. Here I went in school and to university. I studied as economic faculty on a speciality management. But on mine I could not find a speciality work. When the husband I was alive worked as the secretary in firm which he has organized. After his destruction I was arranged with the tutor in a kindergarten. Letter 4: First hint of Internet Café Expenses, and Being "more than friends"

Hi my best friend! I am very glad to receive from you the new letter. Dear I with pleasure would want to be interactive with you, but unfortunately I write from Internet - cafe, it is closed at 20:00, and unfortunately it for me is very expensive <snip> It will be very interesting to me to find out about your plans for the future as I and you is friends and maybee we shall be more than friends. Though I do not believe in love through the Internet. Whether you interestingly believe in love through the Internet? I wait with impatience your following letter. You best friend Olga. 

At this point I still believed her/his story. After all, I thought I was an Internet savvy person. What this all comes down to though, is wanting to believe that there is a beautiful, helpless woman, who may need your help. I took the safe road however, and responded by telling her that: "It was ok if she couldn't respond as often. Once a week was fine with me".

Letter 5: More Sad Details About Her Husbands Death. She also tells another story about losing her husbands business to a scammer. Can you just feel the tug at your heartstrings?

Hello XXXXX!, my best friend. Having received from the new letter I have understood you, that we are close spiritually <snip> His automobile knocked also he has taken it in autorepair. But his machine there have considered negligently and after bad repair at him brakes have given up, in result he was lost. Criminal case was excited, but soon closed behind absence of proofs. <snip> My husband called Konstantin. He was the businessman. When he was alive, I helped him with it. In one year after destruction of my husband I have got acquainted with the man. We lived together and lifted firm of my husband as after his destruction the firm tested the big financial difficulties. This the man has completely gained in my trust. I have signed any papers. He has sold firm and has disappeared with money. After that deceit I began to live very poorly. It was after this letter that I began to grow a brain and get suspicious. She was answering only a few of questions and the answers were very short (sound familiar?). Being the savvy Internet person that I am, I began to do keyword searches on various search engines. I searched on everything from her email address, to her "mum" and "daddy's" name. It was at this point that I decided to look in more depth at the email headers that were on the top of every email she sent me. Every letter came from the same dialup service. Not only this, but they also came from the same dialup router and IP address. Here is the key information obtained from the mail headers. The key information here is the hostname and IP address: (45.dialup.mari-el.ru [195.161.214.45]). Because I know from experience that it wouldn't be impossible for someone to always be sending from the same IP, especially if the equipment has a static IP. The suspicious thing is that this is a dialup router, in a pool with roughly 254 other routers on the same subnet (I scanned the whole subnet). The chances of dialing up to the same router (or modem) every time seem slim to none. Even in a place like Russia, the odds of getting the same modem at least 6 times in a row, in a city of 850,000 people, is very remote. But lets give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that all is kosher with this. I began to do some further investigative work and started hunting for the "tracks" that this IP address had left all over the web. Because nothing you do on the Internet is private, you almost always leave a trail of information for others to follow. My very first search of this address turned up a series of accesses to a Russian Usenet site. This was not just any Usenet site, but was a newsgroup full of posts containing gay porn pictures. My second search turned up multiple posts to a programmer's forum over the coarse of 3 years, which indicated they were trying to sell their programming talents. Without going into full details about how I did my search, I also turned up other websites and information that appeared to be related in one way or another to this IP address. These sites included a Russian University that specializes in training foreign language teachers, miscellaneous sites offering various scam programs for sale, and many adult porn sites.  There were two other underlying themes here. One of them seemed to revolve around the specificsubnet that these dialup routers was on, and the other was a similarity to other letters that have been posted here. When I started getting suspicious I wound up pouring over the blacklist http://www.womenrussia.com/blacklist.htm, I noticed one particular post thatcaught my attention. It was on page 73 (at the bottom). It listed another IP address from this same subnet that I was working with. This address was only 2 IP's away. What are the chances of that? And the scammer this person was talking about had been in numerous prior posts. Coincidentally here name was "Olga" also.  In conclusion, I'd like to point out that I never sent her, nor did I ever plan to send her (or him) one-penny.  I encourage all of you to begin posting the information contained in the headers of your emails from these "women".You don't need to cut and paste everything. Much of the information is useless and only contains info about your own ISP. If you're not sure what to include, just post the part that looks similar to what I have inserted above. You may also want to exclude out your email address, or the domain of your ISP, as I have done by replacing them with "x"'s to indicate that there was something there. By compiling a list of other scammer IP's, I believe we may have another way of tracking these people and reporting them to the proper authorities. Hi, my name is Fred Jones, 41 Male living in California USA. This scam almost got me! This communication was started by me receiving a "random" e-mail from Vlada asking if I'd like to correspond. Photos came with the first few messages, then came the requests for money so that she could buy a visa. Before I sent any money I looked into the matter and learned that all fiancée visas must be filed by a US citizen to an office in the USA.  Obviously, her deal was a scam. I never did send her the money. I still have here on-line and I'm trying to get her to tell me the service that she wants to use to get her visa (she never answers that question). Watch out guys! These women are sharks!

Hi my love Fred! Today is not warm here again, and I'm thinking of you Fred. It was a great day when I received the first letter from you I thank the God and I know that I found the man which name is and I love you. Today I find out up to the end all about opportunities come to you. The last weekend was too slowly lasted without hearing of you Fred, and I miss you Fred. I am pleased with an opportunity to meet you soon, and I want it very much, I think you want it too, your letters was the ray of light in my life. As you know I was not interested in moving to other country but I will do it because I found my love and it's you Fred!!!  We have organization in our city which makes the documents for people who want to leave the country. I asked about moving to your country and I got the answer that I need the visa, foreign passport and some other documents for registration. We have defined(determined) a type of the visa and it's type which allows to marry in the future but if it will be not realize I must return to my country after ninety days it's limit for visa. I asked about prices and was very surprised, first I ask about terms (time) of performance and they said that there is many people who wants to make documents and leave the country but if I'll make the application now, and pay for it now they will make all documents not more than two weeks, and if I'll not make the application, documents will be prepared not earlier than two or three months because there are many people who wants to do it. I was very surprised of price of it. It cost three hundreds and thirty four american dollars. It's make me little suppressed and disappointed I don't have so much now. I was make application but I must pay for it. I asked my mother about our savings she said that the money should not be a barrier between two  people which love each other. I counted my sum and I found out that I have only about fifty dollars and my wages will be not soon. I asked my friends about helping me and they said that havn't it at the present moment. I asked the advice my mother and she said that maybe you Fred can help me because he loves me. I asked her how he can help me, because he is far from me. My mother said that Fred can send the money through company which make this service. I asked about it on my work and I know now that exists reliable and fast company which makes remittances in world and it's called western union. I has remember that I saw advertising this company on tv. I take a directory book and found the address of it and it's not far from me. I went there and I asked them about service. They said that sender must go to the western union branch, give them information: the name and last name of receiver, country they make transfer and bring the ten digits secret code to sender. The receiver must know ten digits for receiving money. They say that the branches of it must be everywhere worldwide. I decide to come to you because I feel this way and you are very necessary to me, I decided to come to the unfamiliar country and I never be outside my country. But I decided to do it because now you are part of my life and I trust you in all. I think youtrust me too and love me too. You must inform me the closest airport to you I'll ask the help with ticket from my relatives. Please don't forget to tell me the closest airport. My love Fred I need 284 dollars I think you will help us because we found our love and we want to meet closer. You must inform me ten digits and I can receive it. You must know Fred we must hurry because I can receive the documents soon and if we lost the time it is necessary for a long time. Now it's very difficultly to receive the visa to your country, and it's fact, but if I pay now I think I do it. I think about sense of money, and I'm very sad if this paper can prevent people to meet each other. In most cases the money play a main role in life but it's not right! I'm sure. And the quantity of money was and will not important to me I always not aspired to material enrichment and don't search specially for rich man. My First Response Letter

Hi Vlada, Thanks for your warm message. It's always a warm ray of sunshine to hear from you. What is the name of the company that provides this visa service? I want to contact them directly. Since you are not expert on the visa process, I want to speak with the service directly to be sure that they are not taking advantage of you. It is possible that they will take your money and provide no visa. I only want to protect you from possible mis-doings. Please provide me with the name of the service so that I can check on them. I found some good advice from a immigration lawyer hat I will send in the next e-mail message. I want to fly to Moscow myself to meet you and take photographs so that I can apply for the "fiance visa" form I-129F. This must be filed my a US citizen (me) in the United States. I have information that I must pay quickly because there is the turn for it and many people want to get it also. They said to me that everything is allright and I can get the visa next week but I must pay on this week, so if I will not pay this week they will be cancel my registration and I'll must to do my registration again and wait other people who want to get the visa too. I love you Fred and want to be with you very much please if you can help us for our meeting send me your help what I asked before through wester union to my name. I will get the visa. Next week I will have it already. I'll do all for our meeting and I think this is the right way for me because I found my love! It's you Fred!!! You must understand that I trust you because I decided to come to you from my country to your country. It's very hard for many people but I feel this way. We will be together Fred! By law, a fiance(e) petition can only be filed in the United States at an office of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). The petitioner must be a U.S. Citizen. Step 1: Petition The fiance(e) petition (Form I-129-F) can be obtained from the INS Regional Service Center or local INS office in the U.S. closest to your residence. When the INS office sends you the petition, they will also include two G-325-A biographic information forms. You must fill out completely both the petition and biographic information forms. Please note that failure to mention any previous marriages on these forms will result in the petition being returned to INS from the relevant Embassy for readjudication. Your fiance(e) can also forward to you the one he/she will receive from the Embassy once her/his case is being processed. Your fiance(e) will be required to present the supporting financial documents at the time of his/her visa interview. Form I-134 (Affidavit of Support) is not required. S. Embassy in Bucharest. Approved petitions usually take approximately 6-8 weeks to reach Embassy Moscow. Note: Effectively immediately, the Immigrant Visa Unit is no longer opening provisional files for K visa beneficiaries. I am a white male and I would like to report a scammer who likes to post profiles on free web sites. It is most likely someone who has stolen the photo and is using it to scam with, but I do not know this for sure. What I do know is that this scammer, Rita is 26 years old and is living in both Odessa and also Moscow. She has profiles posted at Matchdoctor, as Tanusha504 from Odessa and also a profile at Free Russian personals, as Rita #22334 from Moscow. Strange how she can not seem to remember where she lives? My name is Mark, 38 year old who received a response from my ad on Yahoo. When I found out she was from Russia, I went along because I have two friends who are happily married to Russian wifes. Luckily, I stumbled on your site and eventually saw the scammer's photo matching the profile of Diana Ivanova. She has not asked for money, but her undying love in only the 7th letter guarantee's it's coming. This person trys to be slick by inserting my name throughout the message, but eventually slips up by not answering questions or responding directly to my previous messages.

1st Letter:

Hello Mark, Today is not so warm day here in Syktyvkar, winter is here still and the temperature is about -15C now. I'm surprised because I see your answer email. I have tried to write to you but I thought you will not respond me. It's so interesting to exchange emails with the american man from united states. I'm glad that you answered to me, you show interest to my person, thank you Mark. I know computer systems very badly but I'm started to knowing it. I attend the computers rates. I know now how to use email, how to send and receive it. As you have understood Mark I live in Russia in city Syktyvkar. If you want I'll tell to you about my city later. So I want to tell you about my intentions. As you know it's serious. I want to make the love union and I'm looking for man which I will love and which will love me. It's hard but I'm not lose the hoping. For some reasons I don't want to looking for in my city and country. The reasons: Our country not so free as speak, high crime rate, it is difficult to realize itself, weak economic level and other. I save money for next happy (I hope) life because I like to be  independent, but I will leave my country if I found my love. I'm not interesting in life alone. I  remember then we come to bedroom, but it was the final moment I remember, then I waked up, I was so warm and my heart beats very often. I understood it was only a dream, but it was so  real... I think  this dream has a important value for me. Maybe it's destiny? I don't know but I really know that I love you all my heart Mark. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
